444 444 Huntington Park Focused General Plan Update

California state law requires every city and county to prepare a comprehensive, long-term general plan to guide its future, known as the General Plan. The General Plan has been called the “blueprint for future development”, because it contains goals and policies necessary to guide public policy for future land uses.

After input from Huntington Park City Staff, stakeholders, and residents, the Draft General Plan Update is available for review!

Please revise the city zoning to allow for higher building limits. The residents of this city increasingly share smaller living areas in single family housing. Mixed-use multi-family zoning should not be limited to Florence and Pacific. Please let us expand upward rather than squeeze into cramped lots. In addition, we should incorporate more one-way roads, bike lanes, and tree canopy to provide our city with a safer living environment. If everyone cannot own a car, it is unfair that the people who can are allowed to control the most important real estate that is left – the roads. Perhaps we can reconfigure the street parking to help shift us away from our dependence on cars since everyone insists on carelessly taking multiple spots with one vehicle anyways. The current environment is unsustainable so I think we should look at progressive cities in LA and Latin America to see how we can advance our community and not fall behind.
